Windows 7 is designed for faster and more reliable performance, so your PC just works the way you want it to. Windows 7 was intended to be a more focused, incremental upgrade to the Windows line, with the goal of being fully compatible with applications and hardware. Through Baasha India IME’s, the Indian users can enable windows 7 with Indian language support.
New Features
A new feature named Jump Lists has been presented which is used for speedy access to your favorite pictures, songs, websites, and documents. The Windows Taskbar supports better thumbnail previews, easier-to-see icons, and more ways to customize. The performance improvement are in such a way that they are designed to sleep and resume quicker, be less memory hungry, and spot USB devices faster.
The unique look of Windows 7 is the result of Aero, the premium visual experience that makes it exciting to interact with your PC. The borders of windows seem to be made of a transparent glass with subtle shadings that can appear in a wide assortment of color schemes. Windows combines window borders, the new-look Start menu and taskbar, and more into Aero themes, making it easy to change the way your computer looks and sounds with just a few simple steps.
HomeGroup is one of the ways Windows 7 takes the headache out of home networking. WindowsConnect Now is another feature that makes it possible to set up your wireless home network with a push of a button—just shop for a Wi-Fi router that carries a "Compatible with Windows 7" sticker. Once your network is set up, the new View Available Networks menu makes it easy to connect. Located on the taskbar, it displays all your options—Wi-Fi, mobile broadband, dial-up, or corporate VPN— in a single glance. A couple clicks, and you’re done.
Windows 7 is also designed to help you wring more life from laptop batteries. For example, it cuts off the power to your Ethernet jack when you’re not using it and automatically dims your LCD screen which is a huge power drain is being cut short by this, if the computer sits idle too long.
A new Windows 7 feature named Library has been introduced which lets you group files into collections, no matter where they are or what they're called. A library can include up to 50 locations. You can also create new libraries—and call them whatever you want. An architect, for example, could create a library for the blueprints, contracts, and photos related to a building project.
With Windows 7 searching for files, folders, programs, and photos is a breeze. You can find nearly anything by using the search box on the Start menu or in any open window. The search box on the Start menu is usually the first place you’ll want to look for what you need. You can use the search box on the Start menu to find files, folders, programs, and e-mail messages that are stored on your computer. Just click the Start button, and then start typing in the search box. As you start typing, items will appear on the Start menu that matches the text that you typed.
Windows Touch is a natural way to interact with your computer using the touch screen technology. When you pair Windows 7 with a touch screen PC, you can control it with your fingertips. By supporting multi touch technology, Windows 7 opens up a new world of possibilities. A double click becomes a double tap. In Internet Explorer 8, you scroll through a webpage by dragging a finger up or down the screen. In Photo Viewer, zoom in by spreading two fingers apart on the screen, or rotate a photo by twirling one finger around the other.
The Microsoft Touch Pack for Windows 7 offers a glimpse at what’s ahead. The new pack, which will come with some touch screen PCs, includes a 3-D virtual Earth you can spin with your hand. Touch a spot on the Microsoft Surface Globe and it zooms in to sidewalk scale.
