Microsoft Corporation launched its most familiar office suite in Hindi. Beyond its versatile support in Indic languages, now Microsoft comes with Office Hindi. This suite includes Microsoft Word, Excel, FrontPage, PowerPoint and Outlook among others. In this package, user interface will be in Hindi. This Hindi language interface will allow users to create documents, communicate with others in Hindi, and navigate easily using the menus and toolbars that will be in Hindi. Most importantly, it will provide strong confidence among those untouched by the power of computing due to language barriers. This offering to be particularly popular with central and state government, public sector undertakings, the banking industry, educational institutes and the local developer community.
Office Hindi is now available in two editions Office Hindi Professional and Office Hindi Standard. To adopt smoothly Microsoft also announced the availability of online resources, training material and partner support. With all these, one can easily integrate the offering into their infrastructure. This shows Microsoft's interest in providing the supports in regional languages to feel all benefits of IT as others of the world.
This particular version of Office Hindi is officially announced on 2002, then three years of testing had been done, and now we have Office Hindi. The professional version offers a changeable user interface, providing users with the flexibility of easily deploying the Hindi or an English interface as required. The product also offers multiple keyboard options like Transliteration, Inscript, Remington and Godrej, along with other variations. Now Microsoft working with many Indian partners to develop additional add-on tools and applications that will work with Office Hindi (Hindi text-to-speech converter, additional fonts, special dictionaries, and special multilingual smart tags etc., are some among the add-ons).
Currently Office Hindi is adopted by Punjab National Bank and the Department of Income Tax. Microsoft also offers 'Office Step by Step,' a book in Hindi; Office Online, an online resource center in Hindi and a local Clip-art library. |
