Communuity Glossary

Want to Moderate?

Welcome to the Community Glossary! As Project Moderator, your insight and language expertise will be the true key to the success of this project.

You could be a moderator for the Community Glossaries of any of the following future projects:

  • Punjabi
  • Gujarati
  • Bengali
  • Malayalam
Moderator’s Responsibilities

The Project Moderator is the expert selected by Bhashindia. The project moderator sets the schedule for the glossary work, reviews submissions, and monitors the discussion room. At the date set by the project moderator, he or she begins to review all translation suggestions for each term. Based on community input and linguistic excellence, the moderator selects the best suggestion, then locks that term. This work continues until all terms are locked, and then the glossary is complete.

Users may have questions about translation choices, about the criteria you are using to select translations, or about other aspects of the project. As moderator, you are the primary contact for these types of questions. When your language’s Community Glossary Web site is set up, the e-mail alias you provide to Microsoft will be displayed to users on the footer of every Web page. Your name, title/s, and organization will also be listed on the About This Project page.

Be sure to provide an e-mail alias that you do not mind having made public. It is recommended that you create a separate e-mail alias or e-mail distribution list specifically for this project. This will protect your privacy and e-mail addresses from potentially extensive community glossary traffic.

The Project Moderator has four primary areas of responsibility:
  1. Selecting and locking the best translation suggestion for each term
  2. Deleting offensive translation suggestions
  3. Blocking problem users
  4. Serving as a contact for the project
