Online map of Bangalore in Kannada
Microsoft Research India has demonstrated the first prototype of a unique digital map of the country with interactive and multilingual facilities.

A special feature of the interactive digital map enables users to add information relevant to their own communities tagged to specific locations on the map.

According to the company, the web-based interactive digital maps are based on Microsoft's Virtual Earth technology so users do not need to download and install any software to use the maps.

The prototype - which includes an online map of Bangalore in languages of English, Hindi, Kannada and Tamil - has been prepared with the Survey of India in association with the department of science and technology.
