Tegic Communications, a wholly-owned subsidiary of America Online Inc, has said it will launch the Hindi version of its upgraded T9 text input software for instant mobile messages in the Indian market in April.
"We will launch version 7.2 of T9 text Input software in Hindi by end of the first quarter or early Q2 and more languages like English, Bengali, Tamil, Punjabi and Urdu will follow to enhance the features of T9, including speedy word completion and next word prediction", Ray Tsuchiyama, senior VP, Tegic Communications, has been reported as saying.
According to Tsuchiyama, mobile handset manufacturers like LG, Nokia, Samsung, Siemens and Sony Ericcson are already using T9 software for Indian mobile users. However, a current user of T9 software-enabled handset cannot upgrade to 7.2 version in the existing handset. "Tegic has started talking to the same vendors for selling its version 7.2 softwares," Tsuchiyama has said.
"Version 7.2 offers enhanced multi-lingual support, making it easier for users to switch back and forth between languages when texting. It automatically predicts the word that the user is most likely to use", Tsuchiyama has added." |
